Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all orders placed through the Alexandria online shop (libraryofalexandria.ch). The contracting party is the operator of this shop (see Imprint).

By completing a purchase you fully accept these Terms & Conditions.

The display of products in the online shop does not constitute a legally binding offer, but an invitation to order. By clicking "Continue to payment" you place a binding order.

The purchase contract is concluded when we confirm your order by email or when payment is successfully processed.

You are responsible for providing a complete and correct shipping address, including your full first and last name, and a working email address. We may contact you to verify incomplete or inconsistent order details and may cancel and refund an order if we cannot verify them within 7 days.

All prices are final prices including shipping costs and are displayed in CHF (Switzerland) or USD (USA) depending on your shipping country. As a small Swiss business under MWSTG Art. 10 para. 2, no VAT is charged.

The currency and price displayed are determined by the buyer's actual location at the time of ordering, based on IP address. The use of VPN services, proxies, or any other means to circumvent regional pricing is not permitted and constitutes a breach of these Terms. We reserve the right to cancel orders where there is reasonable grounds to believe that the stated location does not reflect the buyer's actual location.

For orders to the United States, US federal tariffs are included in the purchase price. No additional federal charges will apply. However, individual US states may impose their own taxes or levies which are not included in the price and of which we have no prior knowledge. It is the buyer's sole responsibility to check for any applicable state-level tax obligations before placing an order.

Payment is processed via Payrexx. For card payments, your card is charged at the time of ordering. Purchase on invoice is available for deliveries within Switzerland only. The invoice amount is due within 30 days of the invoice date; shipping proceeds independently of receipt of payment. Orders to the United States must be paid in advance by card.

We ship exclusively to Switzerland and the United States. As all devices are built to order, the delivery time is approximately 3 weeks from order confirmation. We will notify you by email when your order ships.

Orders to the United States are shipped with Swiss Post and delivered by USPS. Deliveries to P.O. boxes are possible. The name on the order must match the P.O. box holder, otherwise the parcel may be returned by the carrier.

Risk of loss passes to the buyer upon handover to the shipping carrier.

Undeliverable or unclaimed parcels

The buyer is responsible for collecting the parcel within the carrier's holding period. If a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable or unclaimed (for example due to an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal of delivery, or failure to collect), we will contact you and offer one of the following:

• Reshipment to a corrected address, at the buyer's expense
• A refund of the purchase price minus the original shipping costs and any return shipping costs charged to us

If we cannot reach you within 30 days of the parcel's return, we will refund the purchase price minus these costs to the original payment method.

Transport damage

Visible transport damage must be reported to info@libraryofalexandria.ch within 7 days of delivery, including photos of the device and the packaging.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your Alexandria. That is why we offer all our customers a voluntary 30-day return right from the delivery date, no reason required.

This voluntary satisfaction guarantee applies in addition to and alongside any statutory rights you may have.

To initiate a return, contact us within 30 days of receiving your order at info@libraryofalexandria.ch with your order number and return request.

The device must be returned complete, unused, in its original condition and original packaging. Return shipping costs are borne by the buyer. We recommend a tracked shipping method, as we cannot refund parcels lost on their way back to us.

Once we receive and inspect the returned device, we will refund the purchase price minus the original shipping costs (CHF 25 / USD 24.90) within 14 days to the original payment method. For orders shipped within Switzerland, if the returned device shows signs of having been opened, a handling fee of CHF 10 will additionally be deducted. Devices returned damaged, incomplete or with signs of use may be subject to a reduced refund.

Refunds are made exclusively to the original payment method. We do not issue refunds to other accounts or payment methods.

A warranty of 2 years from the delivery date applies in accordance with Swiss law (OR Art. 197 et seq.).

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that existed at the time of delivery. After 12 months from the delivery date, the buyer bears the burden of proving that the defect existed at the time of delivery.

The following are explicitly excluded from the warranty:

• Physical damage caused by drops, impacts, or shocks
• Cracked or broken screen or casing
• Water damage or damage caused by moisture
• Damage caused by use of non-recommended power supplies or powerbanks
• Unauthorised hardware or software modifications
• Normal wear and tear (e.g. battery capacity degradation)
• Damage caused by misuse or failure to follow operating instructions

For valid warranty claims you are entitled to repair or replacement. Contact info@libraryofalexandria.ch with a description of the defect and proof of purchase before sending the device.

For warranty claims, the buyer bears the cost of shipping the device to us. We bear the cost of returning the repaired or replacement device. Devices sent to us without prior contact, or found to have no warranty-covered defect, will be returned at the buyer's expense.

Alexandria is not liable for damages caused by force majeure, improper use, or third parties. Liability for slight negligence is excluded unless essential contractual obligations are breached.

Alexandria accepts no liability for the accuracy, completeness, or currency of content stored on the device (Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, Project Gutenberg texts). These contents are provided by third parties under their own licences.

Swiss law governs these Terms. For buyers in the United States, mandatory consumer protection rights under applicable federal and state law remain unaffected.

The place of jurisdiction for buyers who do not have a general place of jurisdiction in Switzerland is the registered seat of the seller (Switzerland).

We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Please contact us at info@libraryofalexandria.ch first; we will work to resolve any issue directly.
