What is Alexandria One?

Alexandria One packs an entire offline knowledge library into a device the size of a deck of cards.

Over 19 million articles: Wikipedia, Gutenberg, Wikibooks and Wikiversity, plus offline maps of Europe or the United States, medical references, repair guides and survival guides. All stored locally, all available instantly. It broadcasts its own WiFi hotspot, so up to 10 phones, tablets or laptops can connect simultaneously and access everything through a browser.

Small enough to slip into a jacket pocket. Light enough to forget it's there. Ready in under 60 seconds.

Offline maps

Complete offline maps of all of Europe or the entire United States, with search for places, streets and points of interest: hospitals, pharmacies, police, supermarkets.

Offline library

The breadth of human knowledge: Wikipedia, literature, history, medical references, practical guides and more. All searchable, directly on the device or in the browser.

Alexandria creates its own local WiFi network, not internet, just a direct connection. Connect your phone, tablet or laptop and browse everything through your browser, no internet required. You can even upload your own photos and videos from your phone, visible to everyone else connected.

100% offline

Alexandria never needs an internet connection. It ships fully configured. Power on, done. Works in the mountains, forests, or during power outages.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same content as Kiwix?
Yes. The knowledge library is sourced from the same open content as the Kiwix app: Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg, iFixit, and more. The difference is that you don't need to download anything, configure a server, or own a Raspberry Pi yourself. Everything is pre-loaded and ready to go.
Does Alexandria One have a screen?
No. Alexandria One has no built-in screen or keyboard. Connect your phone, tablet or laptop via Alexandria's local WiFi network (no internet required) and use it through your browser instead.
Does Alexandria One have a built-in battery?
No. It runs off USB-C power and any standard powerbank will work.
How many devices can connect to Alexandria One at once?
Up to 10 devices can connect simultaneously via Alexandria's local WiFi network (no internet required) and use Alexandria One in the browser.
Does Alexandria One work worldwide?
Yes. Since everything is stored locally, Alexandria One works anywhere in the world, as long as you have a power source. No roaming, no signal needed.
Is Alexandria One waterproof?
No. It should be protected from water, moisture and heavy impacts. Best stored in a protective case or dry bag.
Why is the 256 GB version only available in English?
The 256 GB version is designed for the English knowledge base. English-language content is significantly larger than the German equivalent. All other combinations fit comfortably on 128 GB.
Can the content be upgraded?
Yes. When connected to the internet via ethernet cable, Alexandria One can check for and install available content updates directly on the device or via its local WiFi network. As of right now, the knowledge library can be updated. We are working on a feature that will allow the maps to be updated as well.
Are Alaska and Hawaii included in the USA maps?
Not yet. The current USA map covers the 48 contiguous states. Alaska and Hawaii will be added in a future update.
