What is the Alexandria SD Card?

For anyone who already has a Raspberry Pi or a compatible device, the Alexandria SD Card gives you the exact same knowledge library as Alexandria Pro — without the hardware.

We pre-load the microSD card with everything: the full offline Wikipedia, medical references, Gutenberg classics, repair guides and more, plus the software needed to browse it. Insert it into your own device and you're up and running.

This is the option for makers, tinkerers, and anyone who already owns the hardware and just wants the content.

Offline maps

Complete offline maps — all of Europe or the entire United States — with search for places, streets and points of interest: hospitals, pharmacies, police, supermarkets.

Offline library

The breadth of human knowledge — Wikipedia, literature, history, medical references, practical guides and more — all searchable, directly on the device or in the browser.

Local WiFi sharing

Alexandria creates its own local WiFi network — not internet, just a direct connection. Connect your phone, tablet or laptop and browse everything through your browser, no internet required.

100% offline

Alexandria never needs an internet connection — it ships fully configured. Power on, done. Works in the mountains, forests, or during power outages.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same content as Kiwix?
Yes. The knowledge library is sourced from the same open content as the Kiwix app — Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg, iFixit, and more. The difference is that you don't need to download anything, configure a server, or own a Raspberry Pi yourself — everything is pre-loaded and ready to go.
What do I need to use the Alexandria SD Card?
A Raspberry Pi 4 (or most compatible single-board computers) to insert the card into. The card itself contains no hardware.
Which devices is it compatible with?
Any Raspberry Pi 4 running our software image works out of the box. Other single-board computers may work but aren't officially supported.
Does the SD Card include maps?
Not currently — the SD Card ships with the full knowledge library (Wikipedia, medical references, repair guides and more). Offline maps are available on Alexandria Pro and Alexandria One.
Can the content be updated?
Not yet — we're working on update options for the SD Card. For now, each card ships with the latest content available at the time of purchase.
